Fine Lecturer: Philip E. Shapiro, M.D.

Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology, Yale School of Medicine
Lecture Title: The Histopathology of Cutaneous T-cell Lymphomas, with Clinical Correlations and Emphasis on Diagnosing Mycosis Fungoides
Philip Shapiro, M.D. is a dermatopathologist/dermatologist who focuses on clinical-pathologic correlation, previously as Director of Dermatopathology at Yale University School of Medicine and now at the Dermatopathology Laboratory of New England, P.C. in Connecticut, which he founded in 1995. His particular interests include melanocytic neoplasia and mycosis fungoides; on the latter subject, he has made several original observations, including the initial descriptions of the interstitial variant and the lichen planus-like variant, as well as the earliest histopathologic changes of mycosis fungoides.

Zachary Wolner, MD

Lecture Title: What’s New in Cutaneous T-cell Lymphomas
Dr. Zachary Wolner is an assistant professor of dermatology and dermatopathology and member of the Winship Cancer institute at Emory University. He graduated from SUNY Downstate Medical School and completed a preliminary year in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel before coming Atlanta. He completed his dermatology residency and dermatopathology fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Wolner has a clinical interest in dermato-oncology and cutaneous T and B-cell lymphomas. His interests also include quality improvement and patient safety and medical education.

Neda Nikbakht, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. She currently serves as the director of Multidisciplinary Cutaneous Lymphoma Program at Jefferson, focusing both on patient management and research. Her approach includes basic, translational, and clinical studies that incorporate the use of clinical trials, human tissues, and mouse models to identify disease mechanisms and new therapeutic strategies for cutaneous malignancies.
